A life of faith is shaped by the choices we make as we follow Jesus. Discipleship is not about earning God’s approval by following a list of rules; it is about responding to God’s grace.
The key ideas are:
Grace comes first. God’s love and salvation are gifts, not something we earn.
- Rules have a purpose, but they cannot change our hearts or save us.
- A disciple follows Jesus out of love, not fear or obligation.
- Faith produces obedience. When God changes our hearts, we naturally want our lives to reflect His character.
- Discipleship is a lifelong process of growing closer to Christ and becoming more like Him.
- The important question is not simply, “Am I following the rules?” but “Am I becoming more like Jesus?”
Bottom line: Grace saves us, and grace teaches us how to live. Rules may guide us, but a relationship with Jesus transforms us.
